Hoysaleswara Temple, Halebidu, Hassan, Karnataka

The Hoysaleswara Temple, called as 'VishnuvardhanaHoysaleswara', was built in A.D. 1121. It is an ornate dvikutavariety of Siva temple in east-west orientation. Founded by KetamallaDandanayaka, this structure has a group of shrines each having on plan a sanctum, avestibule, a hall and porch which are fused together in the region of hall of dance. The temple once had a prakarawith an imposing gateway on the south side with royal emblem placed over these mandapas.
